SquidGuard Development Cylce
Alpha - Beta - Final
You may already have noticed that we release squidGuard as alpha version
first, after a while making it beta and finally annoncing the final
release. The following definition is used to decide what make a version
alpha, beta or final:
Alpha version:
Some of the new features and bug fixes have been implemented and
run successfully on the development platform. Bugs are directly
integrated into the code.
No tests on other
platforms are performed on this stage.
Beta version:
All new features and bug fixes for the release have been implemented
and run sucessfully on the development platform.
At this stage the cross platform tests take place.
Bugs are directly integrated into the code.
Final version:
The release has passed all cross platform tests successfully.
Found bugs that severly hamper the functionality or security
are not integrated into the final version, but fixed using patches.
